General Manager

Our client, a leading chrome mining operation in Limpopo, is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead its underground mine. This senior leadership role carries full operational, financial, and strategic accountability for the mine. The appointment may be made on either a permanent or consulting basis, depending on the candidate's profile and availability.

Key Responsibilities

Assume full accountability for the safe and efficient operation of the underground mine.Carry the 4.1 legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.Drive a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements.Oversee production, engineering, geology, and support services to achieve business targets.Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary management team.Develop and implement operational strategies to optimise performance and extend mine life.Manage budgets, cost control, and overall financial performance of the operation.Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including regulators, communities, and contractors. Minimum Requirements

Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) - essential.Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field.Minimum 15-20 years' experience in the mining industry, with substantial underground exposure.Proven track record in senior management roles within underground mining operations.Chrome mining experience will be advantageous.Sound understanding of South African mining legislation and compliance requirements.
