HR Officer

We have an opening for a HR Officer in the HR department of a manufacturing company in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will support line managers with disciplinary and grievance procedures, facilitate training initiatives, manage employment equity plans, and implement HR policies. Strong knowledge of the Labour Relations Act is required.

Responsibilities Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary hearings, grievances, incapacity processes, and performance improvement. Coordinate training and development activities including identifying needs, sourcing providers, and evaluating effectiveness. Maintain and update the HR information system and employee files, ensuring records are accurate and compliant with data protection. Coordinate onboarding and induction of new employees, ensuring documentation is complete and integration is smooth. Administer employee benefits including medical aid, pension funds, group life assurance, and wellness programmes. Provide advice to line managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation for fair application.

Requirements A minimum of two to five years of progressive experience in a generalist or specialist HR role within an organisation. Thorough knowledge of South African labour legislation including the LRA, BCEA, and Employment Equity Act. Experience with payroll processing and payroll software such as Sage 300 People, VIP Payroll, or an equivalent system. A diploma or degree in human resource management, industrial psychology, or a related field from a recognised institution. For recruitment roles, proven ability to source candidates using various methods and experience with applicant tracking systems.
