Education Therapist

Jan Kriel School is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work closely with learners, educators, parents, and allied health professionals to support students’ physical development, mobility, and participation in school activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assess, plan, and implement physiotherapy interventions for learners with physical, developmental, or neurological needs Support learners’ access to the curriculum through mobility, positioning, and functional movement strategies Develop and review Individual Support Plans (ISPs) in collaboration with the school-based support team Provide guidance and training to educators and parents on physical support strategies and adaptive equipment Monitor learner progress and maintain clear, professional documentation and reports Liaise with external therapists, medical professionals, and relevant agencies as required (e.g. appointments with seating-clinic)

Desired Experience & Qualification Prerequisite:

Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy Valid HPCSA registration Language proficiency in both English and Afrikaans

Experience working in a school-based or inclusive education setting Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills A learner-centred, inclusive approach to therapy Knowledge of assistive devices and adaptive equipment Confidence working within a multidisciplinary team Passion for supporting children’s independence and participation Strong interest in or experience with Sport for the Physically Disabled Registration with SACE (to be followed up on appointment) Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Teams.

Package & Remuneration According to WCED salary scales.
